A quick message to say thank you

April 16, 2020 10:36 PM

I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank all of the people who are keeing working, looking after individuals, supporting our families, serving our communities and holding our society together. So many people are doing an amazing job and, with the very real risk of missing people, I'd like to say:

Thank you to our doctors, nurses and carers.

Thank you to the teachers and support staff who are still looking after our children in school.

Thank you to the retail workers, the warehouse workers, the truck drivers, the factory staff and the farmers who are keeping stock on our shelves so that we are fed and supplied with essentials.

Thank you to the postal and delivery workers who are bringing things to us so that we don't have to leave our homes.

Thank you to our emergency services who are keeping us safe.

Thank you to our armed forces who have stepped up as they always do.

Thank you to the bus and train drivers and all the other public transport staff for getting key workers to where they need to be.

Thanks to everybody still working, still putting themselves at risk in the service of others.

And thank you to all the fabulous volunteers who are playing their part.

This crisis has brought the best out in us. We are all playing our part and rising to the challenge. Together, we will come through this.
