Council admission on Western Link no surprise

June 13, 2019 9:00 AM

Ryan BateFollowing the Council's latest admission that the Western Link may not be enough to solve congestion and improve connectivity across the borough, Lib Dem PPC Cllr Ryan Bate commented:

'I have long had my doubts about the case for the Western Link, all it does is shuffle congestion from one point to another. It is a flawed solution to a serious problem.'

'Since working with transport consultants and civil engineers looking at the Local Plan and LTP 4, there are also serious concerns whether the Western Link could actually be delivered for the money awarded by government. Given that the whole twenty year plan is predicated on infrastructure delivery I think the Council needs to think again - about the Western Link and the Local Plan as a whole.'
